We’re excited to share that our very own Grant Connors, General Manager Programs has been announced as a featured speaker at the 2024 AUSactive Health Summit on April 13th at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Grant will take the stage at 3 pm to share his expertise on the important topic of Creating Mental Health Support in Community Fitness Facilities through Mental Health eLearning Program, MHeLP.
MHeLP is a cutting-edge Mental Health eLearning Program developed under the guidance of international mental health and exercise experts. Designed for the New Zealand and Australian leisure and community support sectors to equip workers and volunteers with strategies to support themselves and others’ mental health.
Grant brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the conversation. He will present compelling pre and post-data from 4,500 participants, demonstrating tangible improvements in understanding, knowledge and confidence in mental health care within community fitness settings.
Attendees will learn more about ancillary support for responsive strategies in fitness centres, along with a specialised program to foster inclusion for individuals with mental illnesses.
Grant shared his enthusiasm about the summit, stating, “I’m deeply honoured to be speaking at this year’s AUSactive Health Summit, particularly on such a critical topic, especially given the current global climate.
“Mental health is fundamental to overall wellbeing, especially for those accessing support within our community fitness centres. By integrating effective support systems into our facilities like MHeLP, we have the power to truly impact and improve people’s lives.”
