Ernest Kulauzović, Belgravia Leisure’s Area Community Engagement Manager, has been awarded the prestigious NSW Government Community Service Award for his tireless work on community programs in the Liverpool region. This award recognises individuals in New South Wales who have significantly improved the quality of life of members within their communities.
Ernest was nominated by MP Charishma Kaliyanda and received endorsements from several organisations, including NSW TAFE, NSW Department of Education – Lurnea High School, Multicultural African Community Network, Swim Brothers, NSW Police – Multicultural Unit, Afghan Women on the Move (AWOTM), Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council and South-West Sydney Local Health District.
Ernest accepted the award at MP Kaliyanda’s electoral office on Thursday, June 13, 2024, on behalf of Premier Chris Minns.
Liz Stranix, Area Manager NSW (Liverpool), congratulated Ernest, stating, “A huge congratulations to Ernest on receiving this award. It showcases the amazing work he has done in Liverpool and the relationships he has built and will continue to build on. I could not picture a more deserving recipient”.

Ernest was honoured to be nominated for the award by Parliamentary Secretary Charishma Kaliyanda, MP for Liverpool, and to be endorsed by numerous colleagues across South-West and Western Sydney.
“I was shocked when I received the news about the award by the NSW Government, signed by NSW Premier the Hon, Chris Minns. I am fortunate to work with such amazing people. Despite our different cultures, languages and traditions, we all speak the common language of community engagement: supporting, developing, advocating, embracing, consulting, evaluating and then pressing repeat.
“A special thanks to Madam Kaliyanda, and I would also like to express my gratitude to everyone involved in community engagement in Liverpool, including my community colleagues, Liverpool City Council staff and our leisure venues,” Ernest concluded.
During National Reconciliation Week, the Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council celebrated Ernest for his outstanding efforts and allyship in fostering reconciliation and community spirit in Liverpool, NSW.
Dr Jeff Walkley, National Disability and Diversity Manager said, “We were thrilled to learn of Ernest’s nomination, but not surprised. Ernest is a wonderful colleague who has repeatedly created new and impactful opportunities for many people to connect with all that Belgravia Leisure offers—facilities, programs, services and jobs. He always strives to ensure no one misses out on these opportunities for improved health and happiness. He is truly inspirational and richly deserves this recognition.”
We proudly congratulate Ernest on his outstanding achievements and look forward to seeing him continue to inspire and make a positive impact within the communities we serve.
