In a jungle-themed adventure from December 10th to December 14th, the 2023 Belgravia Leadership College (BLC) welcomed 25 nominated leaders across the Belgravia Group. Participants journeyed from across both Australia and New Zealand to participate, arriving in the scenic backdrop of Queenscliff, Victoria, the leaders were welcomed to their rooms with a BLC care package, food and drinks to get to know one another.
The program has been designed to hone leadership skills and foster a culture of growth and development. As participants of BLC 2023, the chosen leaders were not just stepping into a leadership program, they were embarking on a transformative journey. The jungle theme set the stage for an intensive four-day exploration of self-leadership set to challenge and invigorate our leaders.
At the heart of this transformative experience was the prescribed reading ‘Tribal Leadership: Leverage Natural Groups to Build a Thriving Organisation.’ Participants were urged to delve into this book, as it served as the foundation for the entire program. The concepts within its pages were the key to unlocking the activities and outcomes awaiting the leaders.
Guiding this transformative journey were Mark Maybury, Group Manager of People and Culture, and Cherie Mills, National Operations Assistant, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for each participant.
Mark said, “The experience at the Belgravia Leadership College provides participants with a fully immersive learning experience which truly challenges their resilience to work under pressure and take away a deep learning of their personal leadership style with improved capacity to understand and lead their own teams while making strong connections with their peers across the company.”
As part of the immersive experience teams were tasked with the creation of tribal chants. Each team dived into their stage of tribal leadership including the values, unity and shared purpose within their tribes.
Terry Terzioski, Belgravia Leisure’s Guest Experience & Solutions Manager pictured on the far right with his team, was one of BLC’s participants. Terry expressed gratitude and shared some advice for future participants saying, “What an incredible journey at Belgravia Leadership College 2023.
“A big thanks to Mark Maybury and Cherie Mills for being absolute rock stars and to Tim Hutchison for the nomination that was greatly appreciated.
“The course is seriously impressive, packed with valuable insights and growth opportunities. A special shoutout to the legendary team BLC, who all made it unforgettable. For those who may receive a nomination in the future, my advice is simple, seize the opportunity, don’t hesitate. It’s a fantastic chance for personal and professional growth.”
As the jungle-themed adventure concluded, the leaders left with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared experience that they would undoubtedly take back to their roles and teams.
The jungle may have been dense, but with the tools provided by BLC 2023, these leaders were well-equipped to navigate the challenges and lead their tribes to success.
