Carly Williams recently joined Belgravia Leisure in the exciting role of Community Engagement and Inclusion Coordinator in Port Stephens, NSW. This is Carly’s first role at Belgravia, having moved to New South Wales from Western Australia in early 2020.
What are your highlights/magic moments working with Belgravia?
“During the short time with Belgravia I have really enjoyed watching the kids participate in their Learn to Swim classes, however a highlight for me was watching the Tomaree High School Students from the Supported Learning Unit participate in Aqua Aerobics with one of our long standing Instructors. Additionally I have been supporting KKAFC receive funding from Belgravia Foundation for a customised wheelchair for a member (and future swimmers) who has been engaged in lessons at KKAFC for 18 years.”
Tell us about the People you work with.
“I work across 3 sites in the Port Stephens LGA. What I love about regional locations is working with people who are skilled and willing to take on a variety of roles within the industry. I think it adds so much value to our venues and also allows our community to connect to our staff. Over the years I have worked in very transient locations in Western Australia and when I came to New South Wales and I realised how long some of our staff had worked in their centres for, it blew me away. The connection they have with the community is invaluable.”
What is your favourite thing about your career?
“Health, Wellness and Fitness is such a large part of my life. It has been from an early age in competitive sport. I have moved through various roles within the leisure and recreation industry and what I love is that I get to work with, promote, inspire and provide services for the community to be active and feel as good at they can, both physically and mentally.”
What are three things you’re most passionate about in life and why?
“I am most passionate about being a positive role model for my two little girls. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. I am passionate about being physically and mentally as healthy as I can by making positive lifestyle choices. I am also very passionate about taking on new challenges and experiences, whether it be visiting other countries, learning new cultures or trying something that lights my soul.”
