Over 500 members of the local golf community converged on Yarrambat Park Golf Course on Grand Final Eve, where golfers, businesses and families experienced an exciting edition of the club’s annual Par 3 Day.
The popular event in Melbourne’s north welcomed players of all ages and abilities, with participants enjoying two competition fields alongside all-day live music, family-friendly activities, festivities and opportunities to connect with fellow Victorian golfers.
Adding to the excitement, Essendon Football Club player Nate Caddy joined the afternoon field. The player took part in an in-depth Q&A, signing autographs and meeting members of the Yarrambat community.

Yarrambat Events Coordinator Ali Berechree said the event speaks to the important role golf clubs play in bringing communities together.
“Par 3 Day invited local families, members, visitors and businesses to a space where everyone felt welcome and connected, soaking up everything our community has to offer.
“Seeing people stay from morning through to the evening to enjoy the golf, live music, food and interactive activities was an excellent reflection of what makes our club so special.”
The annual Par 3 Day competition featured shotgun starts at 8am and 1pm, with golfers competing across the course in a fun and social format.
This year’s winners were:
- Morning Gross Winner – David Azzopardi (57 points)
- Morning Nett Winner – B Mifsud (50 points)
- Afternoon Gross Winner – Darren Stayner (53 points)
- Afternoon Nett Winner – Mark Wilson (47 points)
Club Champion Aaron Saykan also claimed victory in the nearest-to-the-pin competition, taking home a $300 prize.

Family-friendly entertainment draws strong attendance
Beyond the competition, Par 3 Day offered a range of accessible activities that kept visitors engaged throughout the day. Live music from “local legend” Gary Eastwood kept guests entertained, while mini golf on the 18-hole course provided family friendly fun.
Players and guests were treated to barbecue meals, food trucks and a roaming food and beverage cart. After their rounds, many gathered in the beer garden, where The Grass Lands Bar and Bistro hosted a pop-up bar and post-game celebrations.
The Grass Lands continues to host over 10,000 visits a month and over 150 functions a year. These events include a range of fundraisers and inclusive competitions that support the local community.
Venue Manager Matt Weisheit said events like Par 3 Day help strengthen community connections both on and off the course.
“Whether visitors come to compete, socialise or simply enjoy the atmosphere at Yarrambat, it’s always a pleasure to create memorable guest experiences for them.“
Yarrambat’s Par 3 Day reflects the commitment of both Belgravia Leisure and its golf management arm, Belgravia Golf Management to creating welcoming golf experiences that encourage participation and connection.
