Six conferences, twelve days, 600 attendees and thousands of conversations. Held over the last two months, Belgravia Leisure’s biennial Get Connected Conferences brought leaders together to share new ideas, strengthen connections and help shape the next chapter of the organisation.
The theme, Building the future here, together wasn’t just discussed on stage, it was brought to life in the groupwork, the insightful questions posed from attendees, over lunch and in every conversation.
Held across Australia and New Zealand, each conference created space to discuss local ideas and challenges, while sharing company-wide insights, performance and learnings.
CEO Nick Cox opened proceedings across all six of the conferences, sharing his insights into the growth and evolution of Belgravia Leisure, whilst exploring opportunities and challenges facing the aquatic and leisure industry.
“Bringing leaders together matters at Belgravia Leisure,” Nick said.
“There is so much to learn from each other, and so many strong initiatives to share from across our connected ecosystem of over 260 venues. Our Get Connected Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to work together to challenge what our future holds whilst also celebrating all that we have achieved.
“My hope is that team members have come away with not only a renewed commitment and energy to strive towards daily excellence, but also a full toolkit of ways to take their teams on that journey with them.”
Group General Manager People & Culture, Mark Maybury, said the regional approach was designed to build on the success of last year’s Get Connected Australia & New Zealand Conference while creating more opportunities for leaders across Australia and New Zealand to participate.
“Following the success of our Get Conference last year, we wanted to bring the conferences closer to our teams by hosting them across Australia and New Zealand and involving the next generation of emerging leaders,” Mark said.
“It created an opportunity for more of our people to connect, learn from one another and contribute to shaping the future of Belgravia Leisure.”
The conferences also provided teams with the opportunity to celebrate their local wins over the past two years, welcoming new sites and leaders and sharing successful initiatives from across the venues.
Teamwork, mini challenges and plenty of marshmallows ensured interactivity remained at the heart of the conferences, as well as prizes for those who contributed to the insightful conversations held over the two days.
Many of the conferences also welcomed keynote speaker Jane Wundersitz who shared fresh insights, encouraged team members to think differently and provided practical leadership strategies they could take back to their venues.
A highlight of the conferences was the CLEAR Awards, which celebrated team members who have gone above and beyond to demonstrate our CLEAR values of Customer Focused, Leadership, Excellence, Accountability and Results.
“A huge congratulations to all of the CLEAR Award winners celebrated across this year’s Get Connected Conferences,” Nick said.
“Your dedication to these values is what drives Belgravia Leisure forward and continues to guide our success. Thank you for all your hard work in helping to shape the future of our organisation.”
Day two across the conferences allowed team members to choose their own adventure, with steam sessions led by subject matter experts allowing individuals to focus on the topics most relevant to their role, team and venues.
A comprehensive session on Belgravia Leisure’s Horizon Projects also explored what these projects mean for teams on the ground and the communities the organisation serves.
While each conference reflected its local region, one message was consistent across every location: Belgravia Leisure’s future will be shaped by the ideas, leadership and collective effort of its people.
The success of this year’s Get Connected Conferences reflected the enthusiasm, expertise and commitment of leaders across Australia and New Zealand, bringing the theme of Building the future here, together to life.
