Belgravia Leisure is supporting community heart health during Heart Week (4–10 May) by sharing expert heart health tips and cardiac rehabilitation advice from Senior Exercise Physiologist, Jack Heseltine at Yawa Aquatic Centre in Victoria.
Through Allied Health and Exercise Physiology services at Belgravia Leisure venues, communities can access support to improve cardiovascular health, reduce risk factors and build long-term wellbeing.
With specialist experience in cardiac rehabilitation across Australia and the UK, Jack provides practical, evidence‑based lifestyle guidance.
Jack is also leading Belgravia Leisure’s new Allied Health Subject Matter Expert (SME) Program, which strengthens access to preventative and rehabilitative care through investment in allied health experts.
Expert heart health advice: three practical actions you can take
- Know your heart health numbers
Jack says “Be aware of your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar readings. If you’re unsure, ask your health professional and don’t ignore symptoms like unusual breathlessness, chest discomfort, or dizziness.”
- Move regularly to support heart function
“Aim for physical activity most, if not every day,” Jack advises. “Choose activities you enjoy like walking, cycling, swimming or strength training. More movement is better, but even small amounts add up and help strengthen the heart.”
- Talk about your heart with a health professional
“Have regular conversations with your GP or allied health professional about your heart health. You can even book a Heart Health check with your GP, ask questions, discuss your lifestyle and get advice that suits you. Early action can make a big difference.”

About Jack Heseltine, Senior Exercise Physiologist
Jack joined Belgravia Leisure in 2019, working across Knox Leisureworks and Yawa Aquatic Centre in Victoria, where he established and embedded evidence-based Exercise Physiology (EP) programs at both venues.
He later moved to Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in central London, specialising in cardiac rehabilitation for complex conditions including atrial fibrillation, ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, heart failure and device‑supported care.
While in the UK, Jack led the cardiac rehabilitation program in London and its multidisciplinary team, collaborated with CEP‑UK, the UK governing body for Exercise Physiologists to develop workforce training videos and presented a case study on Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) at their 2025 conference.
Jack has also contributed to home‑based cardiac strength training resources with the British Heart Foundation. He has since returned to Australia to help shape the future of Belgravia Leisure’s allied health services.
Allied health is at the centre of community health care
“The Allied Health Subject Matter Expert Program gives experienced clinicians the opportunity to share knowledge and strengthen evidence‑based practice across our network,” Jack said. “It’s a meaningful way to give back to communities and improve health outcomes.”
The SME Program is now open to Belgravia Leisure clinicians with current AHPRA or relevant governing body registration, advanced training or specialist expertise and a commitment to collaboration and evidence‑based care.

Kia Naylor, Allied Health Manager at Belgravia Leisure, added:
“By embedding this practice into our allied health services at leisure venues, we are improving access to preventative and rehabilitative care. This goes a long way to supporting long‑term health outcomes, with no need to be a member to access our allied health services.”
