Swim sensation, Aurora Jansma from Redcliffe War Memorial Pool is just 10 years old – and she has 19 gold medals to her name. Aurora has competed in four major championships in 2026 alone; proving age is only a number.
After a highly successful State Swimming Championships winning six of these golds in April, Aurora has cemented her place to compete at the 2026 Australian National Swimming Games on 29 November in Melbourne, Australia.
“Aurora graduated from our Learn to Swim program and trains with the Redcliffe Leagues Swimming Club squads in Moreton Bay year-round,” said Kylie Palmer, Venue Manager at Redcliffe War Memorial Pool.
“Since joining, she has swum at an extraordinary level in both national and international competitions. It’s been a thrill to watch.”
Aurora’s journey
At the 2026 Queensland School Representative Championships in April, Aurora qualified for Nationals and took home six gold and two silver medals, as well as the title of Age Champion for the 10-year-old group.
Aurora went on to bring home another six gold medals and set the Brisbane record for the 100m Freestyle at the 2026 Brisbane Metropolitan Championships in March.
Aurora’s father and coach, Charlie Jansma, explained:
“Since the age of six, Aurora’s desire to swim competitively peaked early above all other sports she tried. As the youngest member of the swimming club she trained consistently, breaking numerous longstanding club records and hasn’t slowed down since.
“Nowadays, as a full-time student, Aurora splits her morning and evening training regime between Nudgee College and Redcliffe. As a parent, I’m super proud to support her dreams.”

At the 2026 Brisbane Vorgee Sprint Championships in January, Aurora won three gold medals and one silver, then competed at the 2026 Global Aquatics Asian Open Swimming Championships, where she scored four gold medals, two silver and one bronze. This was alongside an award for the ‘Most Outstanding International Athlete’ and the title of Age Champion for her age group.
Kellie Dutton, Learn to Swim Coordinator at the venue, added:
“The team at Redcliffe War Memorial Pool is ecstatic to have played a small part in Aurora’s success. She is dedicated to her craft and is an inspiration to all swimmers who are a part of our community.”
Charlie Jansma concluded: “Aurora is extremely determined and believes everything is possible, even during tough training sessions. We can’t wait to see her thrive at the Australian National Swimming Games.”
