A new purpose-built gymnastics facility for children is set to open in the heart of Melbourne’s west this winter, offering families a modern space where kids can learn, move, and thrive through gymnastics.
The centre, BK’s Gymnastics Footscray, is located at 10 Mitford Parade, West Footscray and aims to become a community hub for active play, fitness, and early motor skills development. The BK’s centre will open at the previous FCGC centre which closed earlier this year.
Designed specifically for children aged 1 to 12 years, the facility features child-friendly equipment, foam pits, sprung floors, climbing zones, and dedicated areas for preschool and school-aged programs.
“Our vision at BK’s Gymnastics is to create safe, fun and supportive environments where children can explore movement, develop fundamental lifelong skills, build their confidence and make new friends through gymnastics,” says Nyssa Barros-Smith, Centre Manager of BK’s Gymnastics Footscray.
“Research tells us that active kids are happy kids, and our goal at BK’s Gymnastics is to equip children with skills that can be used for the rest of their lives.
“The opening of our new BK’s Gymnastics Footscray centre will provide even more families with the opportunity to participate in activities that directly support their children’s development.”
Programs to Inspire Movement and Play
BK’s Gymnastics offers a range of age-appropriate classes, including:
- Little Stars (2–5 years): For toddlers aged 2 to 5 years (parent assisted for children 3 years and younger). Fun gymnastics programs for pre-school aged children teaching skills little ones need for a successful future.
- Gym FUNdamentals (5-8 years): Foundational gymnastics techniques in a non-competitive environment. The objective of these classes is to continually enhance ability by progressing through a wide range of gymnastics movement across all apparatus.
- Club Gym (8-13 years): These classes teach the skills of gymnastics in a non-competitive and fun environment with a focus on developing coordination, strength, flexibility, and balance.
- Ninja Stars (5–10 years): Combines elements of gymnastics, parkour, leaping, and tricking – all designed for our most energetic participants.
All sessions are led by experienced, accredited coaches and run in accordance with Gymnastics Australia guidelines. The centre also offers school holiday sessions, birthday parties, and casual play sessions.
