A mix of sunshine and rain set the scene for more than 60 rookie golfers who battled it out at Yarrambat Park Golf Course recently. Players arrived from 23 clubs across Victoria, turning the Yarrambat Masters into a showcase of skill and community spirit, no matter their experience with the sport.
Jack McDonald, National Golf Programs Manager, said, “Despite the challenging conditions, the course looked immaculate thanks to the Solutions Plus Maintenance team led by Tim Lowe. It really set the stage for some impressive scoring.”

Edward Beehag from Barwon Heads secured the Men’s Open Amateur title with a 73 (+1), while Latrobe’s Lillian Bu claimed the Women’s title with a 81 (+9). Both players handled the changing weather with confidence that kept the competition tight from start to finish.
The Nett competition delivered its own suspense. Eastern Golf Club’s Bryce Sweeney finished three strokes under his handicap to secure the Men’s Nett title, showing consistency in the toughest conditions. La Trobe’s Tiarra Sangsinlert mirrored that performance to take out the Women’s Nett crown, also three under her handicap. These results highlighted the depth of talent across all levels of the field.
Yarrambat locals had plenty to cheer for, with members Kat Trull and Glen Noonan finishing second in their divisions. Their success reinforced how important strong local participation is to events like this.
After the play wrapped up, competitors gathered in the Yarrambat bistro for a BBQ lunch, drinks and presentations, rounding out the day with the kind of camaraderie that continues to attract people to the sport.
Reflecting on the tournament, Jack said, “The Yarrambat Masters highlights the incredible strength of golf participation right now. Seeing players from so many clubs come together for a high-quality event is a testament to the health of the game. We’re excited to see this momentum continue and look forward to welcoming the tournament back in 2026.”
With strong community backing and a growing reputation, the Yarrambat Masters Open Amateur is set to remain a standout event on Victoria’s golfing calendar.
