Imagine a warm summer evening by the beach of beautiful Byron Bay, complete with meditation by the ocean. At First Sun Holiday Park, two wellness‑led experiences have been introduced – oceanfront meditation and beachside social events – to help guests recharge and connect in the heart of Byron Bay.
Mindful experiences elevate the holiday stay
Recognising a growing appetite for restorative and mindful holiday experiences, the park introduced a meditation and breathwork session led by ALI Wellness practitioner Ali Oetjen (of Bachelorette Australia fame, no less).
Guests were invited to decompress and reconnect through guided breathwork while surrounded by the natural calm of the coastline.
“Supporting guest wellbeing is a huge focus for us,” said Amber Hughes, Business Operations Manager and creator of the session. “Bringing Ali to the park offered people a meaningful moment to slow down and feel grounded while on holiday.”
This trend‑aligned approach reflects a broader movement across the tourism sector where wellbeing isn’t an after-thought, but an essential part of the guest journey.
Beachside social drinks create space for connection
Another standout was the introduction of Beachside Social Drinks, held every Thursday and Saturday in partnership with Kombi Keg Byron Bay. Featuring local beers from Common People Brewing Co. and spirits from Byron Bay Spirits Co., the events created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where guests could mingle and meet the team behind the park.
“We wanted to create something that felt effortless and welcoming,” said First Sun Holiday Park Manager Jacynta Donald. “Our focus is on expanding guest experiences through partnerships with local Byron Bay businesses, strengthening community engagement and support.”
“It’s been incredible meeting guests face‑to‑face twice a week,” Jacynta shared. “Those conversations build trust and foster a real sense of belonging.”
Live music amplified the atmosphere, with performers D’Veena & Adzi, Jordy Quinn and DJ Elara De Lune bringing rhythm, storytelling and energy to create a vibrant yet inclusive festival‑style feel.

A guest-first approach that benefits everyone
“What makes this program remarkable is the way it supports both guests and the broader Byron Bay community,” added Tim Hutchison, Head of Guest Experience at Belgravia Leisure.
“Every activation – wellness, music, or social – was powered by local businesses, local talent and local partnerships, creating unique and memorable moments for our guests.”
As wellness and social connection shape the visitor economy, First Sun shows how local collaboration and thoughtful design create unforgettable stays.
