What is a Community Network Forum (CNF), you might ask? They are events driving meaningful change across Belgravia Leisure venues, with more than 1,065 community members taking part across Australia and New Zealand this year.
Participation has continued to grow in 2025, showing the strong trust communities place in venue teams and the value of coming together to discuss access, inclusion and local priorities.

Held twice annually across year-round venues, CNFs form a key part of Belgravia Leisure’s national Access and Inclusion Strategy. The forums bring together diverse and often underrepresented community voices, allowing teams to listen, learn and collaborate on solutions that create more welcoming, inclusive and accessible leisure environments.
According to Group Access and Inclusion Coordinator Emma Lowe, the strength of the program lies in the authenticity of the conversations taking place.
“Our forums are about real conversations and working together to break down barriers so everyone can enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of leisure and recreation. Every voice we hear helps shape the future of our venues and strengthens the relationships we hold within our communities,” Emma said.
Insights gathered from CNFs across both countries highlighted recurring themes that matter deeply to community members. These include a desire for greater social connection, more affordable and flexible programs and more accessible health, fitness and wellbeing options. These insights now guide planning, programming, and team development across venue and national levels.
Several venues have already translated feedback into local action. At Michael Clarke Recreation Centre in Western Sydney, the CNF identified women in need as the top priority group.
The team got straight to work, partnering with a local women’s health clinic in Liverpool to co-design a referral-based program supporting women impacted by domestic violence. The program provides a safe and welcoming environment where participants can rebuild confidence through supported physical activity, connection, and wellbeing initiatives.
Western Sydney Business Operations Manager Liz Stranix says these outcomes reflect the purpose of CNFs. “Our CNFs ensure we’re not just delivering services to the community, but with the community. The improvements we’re seeing across our venues are a direct reflection of what people have told us matters most and that’s something worth celebrating.”
