Did you know that 62% of Belgravia Leisure’s almost 8,000 strong workforce is made up of women, and that women also hold more than half of senior leadership roles across the organisation? These numbers show a strong foundation, yet the real impact comes from the people driving change on the ground.
Across the business, women are shaping communities, lifting teams and redefining what leadership looks like in leisure, recreation and wellness. This work is supported by strong partnerships with councils, helping ensure local communities have access to safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces for active wellbeing.
The upcoming Women in Leadership Summit will bring women from across Australia and New Zealand together to learn, connect and share experiences that build confidence and capability across their teams and communities.
Among those attending the Summit in Victoria are Senior Business Operations Manager for VIC/TAS Kara Monaghan, WaterMarc’s Assistant Venue Manager Sarah Dixon and Monbulk Aquatic Centre Venue Manager, Rachel Scott.
They spoke about how they’re creating pathways for growth and inspiring future leaders across the business.
Sarah Dixon shared that “leadership is about lifting people up and helping them see what they’re capable of. At WaterMarc, our leadership team is around 90% women which I think really shows the depth of experience women bring to our industry and to Belgravia Leisure as a whole.
“The Women in Leadership Summit is a chance to connect and bring that energy back to our teams.”
For Business Development Manager Michael McKay, investing in women’s leadership is a vital part of the organisation’s long-term success.
“Supporting women in leadership isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential to our future. Seeing our leaders step up and create real impact is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
Kara Monaghan said Belgravia Leisure’s investment in women’s leadership has been both intentional and transformative.
“Across our venues, women are leading change in our leisure, recreation and wellness communities. The summit is one of the ways we’re helping them continue to build confidence, capability and impact.”
Rachel Scott, Venue Manager at Monbulk Leisure Centre, said the sense of connection among Belgravia Leisure’s leaders is one of the organisation’s greatest strengths. “I feel really fortunate to work alongside such strong leaders. Together, we’ve built a supportive network making a real difference in our communities.”
Kara added, “It’s important to celebrate how far we’ve come and recognise the work still ahead. Together, we’re building a future where leadership truly represents the communities we serve.”

Kara, Sarah and Rachel will join a wider group of Belgravia Leisure leaders attending the Summit from across Victoria.
This includes Somerville Recreation Centre Venue Manager Clare Black, Greater Bendigo Aquatic Centres Area Manager Carly Schintler, Ascot Vale Leisure Centre Assistant Manager Lauren McCarthy, Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre Assistant Manager Darcy Clemow and Knox Leisureworks Assistant Manager Kylie Herriott.
Belgravia Leisure continues to strengthen its focus on gender equity, inclusion and leadership development moving into the future. For more information on roles available at Belgravia Leisure please click here.
