With 15 years in the leisure industry, Marie Brandis has just about seen it all and loved (almost) every minute of it. 

Now Area Administration Manager for Belgravia Leisure across Auburn and Greater Western Sydney, Marie’s career has spanned a variety of roles across the sector, giving her deep insight into what makes great teams and thriving communities. 

Marie first joined Belgravia Leisure after a former manager encouraged her to take the leap, and she’s never looked back. 

Over the years, Marie has helped train and mentor countless team members, many of whom have gone on to lead venues of their own. “I’ve had some fantastic managers over the years. Watching them grow into bigger roles has been one of the best parts of the job,” she said. 

Rob Tomasums, Area Manager for NSW (Western Sydney), said Marie is one of the region’s most valued team members. “Marie brings experience, consistency and plenty of laughs to everything she does. She helps keep our venues connected and is an incredible support to everyone around her.”

When she’s not keeping venues running smoothly, Marie can be found minding her great-grandson, planning her next cruise or dreaming about a trip around Australia.

And what does she love most about the job? “Getting away from my husband and hanging out with the younger staff, they keep me young!” she laughed.

Marie’s story is a reminder that it’s the people behind our venues who make leisure more than a job, they make it a community.
