In the aquatics and recreation industry excellence isn’t just a goal—it’s a commitment to nurturing vibrant and safe communities. On Friday, 21 June, Belgravia Leisure proudly showcased the excellence of the venues we manage, alongside our exceptional team members, receiving four prestigious honours at the 2024 Aquatics and Recreation Victoria (ARV) Industry Gala Awards.
Each year, the ARV Industry Awards celebrate the industry’s best, recognising the hard work and unparalleled achievements that shape the landscape of aquatics and recreation.
These awards are symbols of dedication, passion and a relentless pursuit of excellence by our people. We are proud of the nominations and award wins, not only showcasing their remarkable talent but also their profound impact on the communities they serve.

Among the winners was Ronelle Dorkin, from our Contact Centre team, who was awarded the Membership Sales Award for her dedication and customer-centric approach.
Clare Black, Sales & Guest Experience Manager (VIC/TAS), said, “Ronelle’s unwavering dedication to her role sets a high standard for us all. Achieving remarkable sales personally while also managing a team that is constantly evolving with sites being added, is truly commendable. Congratulations, Ronelle, your achievements inspire us all.”

Patricia Gussenhoven from Knox Leisureworks was awarded the Swim Teacher for Babies, Infants and Preschool Award. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young swimmers instils confidence and lays the foundation for a lifetime of water safety and enjoyment.
Darren Allen, Area Manager for VIC (Yarra Ranges), said, “Patsy is a swim teacher legend, and ARV recognised this on Friday night. Unfortunately, Patsy was unwell and could only attend virtually—we got ahold of her on Kylie’s phone, so technically she’s in the group photo. We got around her nonetheless to celebrate what we’ve known for years, she’s the best!
“Well done Aquatics & Recreation Victoria, Knox City Council, Belgravia Leisure, Danny Fotinatos, François, Ruby Southam, Cooper Seeley and the amazing Maggie Doyle for accepting the award on Patsy’s behalf,” Darren concluded.

Mill Park Leisure‘s outstanding achievements were also highly commended in the Facility Management Award – Large. Their commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment ensures that every member and guest experiences the joy and benefits of recreation.
Additionally, Michelle Millhouse from Mill Park Leisure was highly commended for the Personal Trainer/Gym Instructor Award, acknowledging her dedication to empowering individuals on their fitness journey.

Belgravia Leisure would like to thank the ARV team and volunteers and congratulate all the winners and nominees whose passion and commitment continue to elevate and inspire the aquatics and recreation industry.
