Belgravia Leisure’s commitment to leading the charge in diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) has been recognised nationally with the appointment of Group Health and Wellbeing Manager, Victoria Goodwin Barlow, to the AUSactive DEI Advisory Group. The only senior leader from a major leisure services management company to hold a position on the panel, Victoria’s selection highlights both her personal dedication and Belgravia Leisure’s broader mission to break down barriers in the fitness and active health industry.
Victoria was nominated for the role by Dr Jeff Walkley—CEO of the Belgravia Foundation, National Disability & Diversity Manager at Belgravia Leisure and a leading advocate for inclusive leisure, fitness, recreation and aquatics—and was officially endorsed by the AUSactive Board following a competitive selection process.
Now part of a panel of industry experts, Victoria will help drive initiatives to break down barriers that prevent Australians from accessing fitness and wellbeing opportunities.
“To me, it’s noteworthy that Victoria is the only person in a senior management role with a major leisure services management company to join the Advisory Panel,” said Dr Walkley. “I believe our contribution through Victoria should be celebrated, as it reinforces and affirms our desire to support and lead in this space.”
AUSactive, the peak body for Australia’s exercise and active health sector, champions inclusivity as a core value and strategic objective. Its Advisory Group brings together key voices, including Deborah Goldberg (Fuel Summit), Emmanuel Madziva (Sports Specialist, WA), Rachel Engelhardt (City of Melbourne) and Anne Drury (AUSactive Registered Professional), to ensure diversity and accessibility remain at the forefront of industry decisions.
Victoria’s experience in community wellbeing, spanning both Australia and the UK, has equipped her with the knowledge and passion to drive real change.
“It’s a real privilege to be part of the AUSactive DEI Advisory Group and I’m incredibly grateful for the Board’s endorsement,” she said. “I feel proud to represent Belgravia Leisure on this Board and look forward to working with the group to challenge the things that inhibit inclusion. Our goal is to create conditions where no one is denied the opportunity to be active and live a healthy life.”
Belgravia Leisure is committed to fostering an industry where everyone feels welcome, supported and empowered to participate, ensuring no one is left behind. Victoria’s appointment reflects this dedication and we look forward to the impact she will make in shaping a more inclusive future for all Australians.
