The Mornington Peninsula Water Safety Alliance, supported by Belgravia Leisure, has launched a new set of water safety assets to address key issues around beach preparedness, risk-taking behaviours and the influence of social media on water safety.
These assets aim to educate local residents and visitors to the Mornington Peninsula—Victoria’s highest-ranked LGA for drowning incidents—on:
- Preparedness for visiting the beach.
- Risk-taking behaviours and activities around water.
- Social media influences, highlighting the reality behind TikTok, Facebook and Instagram content.
The below video is a snapshot of three full videos created as part of the campaign.
The initiative is supported by Play It Safe by the Water and will be shared across emergency services, the aquatics industry, local councils, tourism bodies and the broader community to maximise reach.
A dedicated website has been created to provide essential safety resources, tips and information, helping people make informed decisions when enjoying the water. It also offers updates on current programs and drowning prevention initiatives.

Belgravia Leisure would love to thank and acknowledge the efforts of all those involved in this project, including local families affected by drowning incidents, Matt from Untamed Productions, Portsea Life Saving Club, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Point Leo SLSC and Belgravia Leisure team members.
