Meet Ryan Mifsud, our VIC/TAS Health and Wellbeing Manager

Ryan has been with Belgravia Leisure since 2012 and has held a range of roles including gym instructor/personal trainer, exercise physiologist, health club and clinical manager. Ryan is currently Belgravia Leisure’s VIC/TAS Health and Wellbeing Manager and Acting National Health and Well-being Manager.

When asked what some of his magic moments have been at Belgravia Leisure, Ryan replied with, “I really love what we do and have particularly enjoyed the journey to get Exercise Physiology embedded into what we do at Belgravia Leisure.”

“Being apart of the WaterMarc leadership team through the early years and launching Coaching Zone at WaterMarc. We are the two times national winners of Technogym Let’s Move for a Better World Competition. Our greenfield launches and working with key leaders across the company during this COVID period. The commitment to rise to the challenge and go above and beyond has been impressive to see and a privilege to be part of.”

How have you been impacted by COVID-19 & what have you learnt?

“No doubt our industry was one of the hardest hit by the pandemic. We’ve had to adapt our ways of engaging with our members and our communities to help maintain their health and well-being.”

“The biggest impact I think on our team was the lack of interaction and engagement with our members, we work in this field to help people so the socialisation with our members was definitely missed. I’ve learnt our health club leaders and our members are extremely resilient and I think that is fuelled by their passion to help our communities live healthier lives,” Ryan explained.

What is your favourite thing about your career?

“The variety and flexibility of my role.”

Where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?

“Happy, healthy and maybe a few kilos heavier.”

What are 3 things you’re most passionate about in life and why?

  1. Collingwood Football Club – no need for an explanation.
  2. Old Paradians Cricket Club – my second home and my second family.
  3. Family, friends and my wife – the people I enjoy spending the most time with, the people that are my greatest supporters and cheerleaders.
