Keilor East Leisure Centre (KELC) – MOVE Moonee Valley’s largest-ever capital works project and a beloved health and fitness hub – has plenty to celebrate.
The venue recently marked its fourth anniversary as a MOVE facility with an unforgettable Open Day celebration, full of free activities and family fun. The event coincided with the grand opening of the MOVE Health Clinic, located at the nearby Ascot Vale Leisure Centre, which now offers Dietetics and Exercise Physiology services. Adding to the excitement, KELC has also achieved a major milestone: becoming the most-used venue across the country for the Cérge accessibility tool by surpassing 300,000 total website visits.
Accessibility at the heart of KELC
Cérge helps people with disabilities “know before they go,” making leisure, recreation and wellness experiences easier to plan. Visitors can access 360-degree virtual tours, sensory guides, audio guides, and communication boards directly on the venue’s website, giving everyone confidence to explore.
Belgravia Leisure Disability & Diversity Manager and Belgravia Foundation CEO, Dr Jeff Walkley said, “This inclusive communication technology gives our communities choice and control in how they engage with our venues. It reduces uncertainty and leads to increased and sustained participation.”
A day full of fun and movement

Partnering with leading organisations such as Speedo, Zoggs, Hearing Victoria, Victoria Police, Nutrition Capital, Xlent Events and Manjot’s Baking, KELC opened its doors from 9 am to 2 pm for a day packed with free activities and family fun, designed to inspire movement and wellbeing across Moonee Valley.
From the moment the doors opened the atmosphere was buzzing. Kids enjoyed face painting, guessed jellybeans, created balloon characters and bounced across a giant inflatable obstacle course in the outdoor 50-metre pool. Dance Society classes kept the crowd moving, while childrens’ entertainers and giant elephant and bear mascots brought smiles to every corner.
Adding to the excitement, door prizes from Speedo and Zoggs gave lucky attendees even more reason to celebrate.

Fitness and wellness highlights
Open day featured three free group fitness classes for guests: A Michael Jackson-themed Pop Yoga session, Reformer Pilates for strength and flexibility and an Aqua Megaclass in the outdoor pool with free swim access.
That wasn’t all: to celebrate the newly opened MOVE Health Clinic at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre (accessible to KELC members) and KELC’s focus on health and recovery, guests enjoyed free ice baths, an EVOLT Body Scanner (body composition scanner) and a Recovery Zone. The health clinic at KELC includes consulting suites and a growing team of allied health professionals including Dietitians and an Exercise Physiologists.

Venue Manager James Worboyes said:
“The event was a great opportunity to celebrate how far the venue has come, our bright future ahead and to give back to our MOVE community.”
Looking ahead
As KELC looks to the future, the team remains committed to delivering exceptional experiences and health services for the Moonee Valley community for years to come.
