Launched just a few months ago, the Singleton Active Inclusion Sports Program (SAISP) is already one of Singleton’s most anticipated weekly catch-ups. Every Friday morning (soon to be Wednesdays), Singleton Heights Sports Centre becomes a place where lifelong connections grow through the simple joy of playing games together.

SAISP invites participants from local disability support agencies to enjoy two hours of sport and social connection, followed by a BBQ lunch hosted by the venue. From basketball and futsal to indoor cricket, squash and even a few dance breaks, the sessions are designed to keep energy high and smiles wide.

Starting with just nine participants on its first day, the program now welcomes 25 people each week, with plans to reach more agencies in neighbouring towns. Current partners include Whitmore Ltd, Challenge Disability Services and Sunnyfield Disability Services, with a growing list of organisations eager to get involved. 

Sami Udy, Access & Inclusion Coordinator at Singleton Heights Sports Centre says the program is about much more than the sports on offer. 

“It’s become the highlight of my week to welcome and engage with these amazing humans. You can’t miss the music, the laughter and cheering. It’s more than just sport, it’s friendship, skill-building and a chance to connect.”

Participants rotate through four different activities each week, helping them discover new skills while building confidence and teamwork. For many, it’s also a chance to connect with people they might not otherwise meet, making each game a step towards a stronger, more inclusive community.

From the thrill of a goal to the conversations over lunch, Singleton Heights Sports Centre is proving that sport can be the starting point for lifelong connections and a feeling of inclusion for all. 

Please note: The program has been on hold since July due to staff availability and will restart on Wednesdays from September 2025.
