From Swim Teacher to CEO: Gavin Wake leads the next chapter for Belgravia Education

From starting out as a swim teacher and lifeguard to progressing through teaching and educational leadership roles, Gavin Wake has built a career focused on helping people learn, grow and achieve their potential. Today, he brings that experience to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Belgravia Education.
Gavin is leading the organisation’s education and training activities, with a focus on expanding training opportunities, strengthening industry partnerships and developing education-to-employment pathways that create positive outcomes for learners, employees and communities.
Education has been a consistent theme throughout Gavin’s career, but his journey began in an industry familiar to many across Belgravia.
“My career in education started in the pool as a swim teacher and lifeguard,” Gavin said.
“What began as a casual role quickly became a passion for teaching and helping people learn and grow. That passion took me around the world and ultimately led me into a career in secondary education.”
Over the years, Gavin progressed through teaching, leadership and principal roles while maintaining a strong belief in the power of education to change lives. His passion for teaching and learning led him to undertake a Master of Education specialising in Applied Learning, strengthening his focus on connecting education with real-world experiences and practical skills.
Throughout his career, whether in the classroom or in an educational leadership role, Gavin has remained committed to helping people succeed through learning.
Gavin’s background also includes teaching outdoor education, bringing together his interests in learning, adventure and personal growth. Outside of work, he enjoys surfing, spending time at the beach, riding his motorbike and practising yoga.
“I’m looking forward to meeting more people across the Belgravia Group and seeing the work being delivered across our venues, programs and communities.
“When people are passionate about what they do, the impact they can have on others is extraordinary and I’m excited to see that in action,” Gavin concluded.
