A new chapter has begun for one of Kaipara’s most treasured taonga (treasured places), with Belgravia Leisure stepping into management of Kaipātiki Hot Springs in partnership with Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara and the existing local team.
The transition follows the conclusion of the previous lease on 31 December 2025 and coincides with the return of the site’s traditional name, reflecting whakapapa (ancestral connections to place), community values and a long-term vision set out in the Kaipātiki Reserve Management Plan.

“As we begin management of Kaipātiki Hot Springs, we first acknowledge the stewardship and hard work of the past operators of Parakai Springs,” said Zubran Nabi, General Manager Belgravia Leisure New Zealand.
“Their contribution created a place generations of whānau have loved and relied on. Belgravia Leisure’s partnership with Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara will honour this taonga and shape its next chapter with manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga at the heart.
“Belgravia Leisure is happy to share the entire kaimahi team remains in place, providing stability and reassurance for the community. This continuity means trusted relationships endure, with a renewed focus on wellbeing and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for all,” concluded Nabi.
The announcement has been widely covered across Aotearoa, including reporting by NZ Herald, Stuff, RNZ, Auckland Scoop and Waatea News, highlighting the significance of the name change, the partnership and the focus on continuity for the community.
Careful planning has ensured a seamless handover. The pools remain open under the same hours and pricing that visitors know, with the same kaimahi welcoming guests throughout the busy summer period. Temporary signage reflects the new name, while a phased rebrand and renewal programme begins. No immediate operational changes are planned, providing familiarity and reassurance for regular visitors.
Te Poari Chairperson Mihi Blair has spoken publicly about the meaning of Kaipātiki and the collective vision for the site, grounded in wellbeing, connection and care for generations to come. The partnership with Belgravia Leisure supports this vision through operational expertise across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, while prioritising local relationships and cultural values.
As the hot springs move into this new chapter, Belgravia Leisure and Te Poari o Kaipātiki ki Kaipara have also acknowledged the contribution of Parakai Springs Complex Limited, recognising more than 30 years of service to the local and regional community and the legacy built over that time.
Kaipātiki Hot Springs remains a treasured place for whānau and visitors. With the full team retained, trusted experiences continuing and a shared commitment to manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga, the focus is on nurturing the mauri of this taonga and supporting its role as a place of wellbeing, connection and care well into the future.
