What is being a Lifeguard all about?
Our lifeguards provide the community with a safe and enjoyable atmosphere whilst providing an exceptional customer experience. Some responsibilities include providing assistance to customers, supervising the pool, providing first aid and offering assistance to other departments when required.

What’s involved in becoming a Lifeguard?
What are the benefits of being a Belgravia Leisure Lifeguard?
Being a Lifeguard for Belgravia Leisure provides you with the opportunity to work at a range of exciting aquatic venues! Belgravia Leisure currently manage over 200 venues across Australia and New Zealand, so there is always a venue close to work at.
Belgravia Leisure also offers a range of internal professional development opportunities through growth pathways to move into different roles within the organisation. Interestingly, the majority of our leaders commenced their career as a Lifeguard!
Who can become a Lifeguard?
We are always looking for talented Lifeguards. Anyone with a drive for safety can consider becoming a lifeguard.
- Candidates are to have a reasonable level of health and fitness.
- No previous experience is needed.
- Candidates must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible to qualify as a Lifeguard.
- You must be an Australian or NZ Citizen or hold an appropriate VISA allowing you to undertake education.
What qualifications do you need to become a Lifeguard?
Qualifications required to become a Lifeguard include:
- Pool Lifeguard qualification – SISS00129 or SISSS00133
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation qualification – HLTAID009
- Provide First Aid qualification – HLTAID 011
If you don’t have these, not to worry – Belgravia Leisure has a nationally accredited Registered Training Organisation to help you achieve these qualifications, free of charge!
For employees over 18 years of age, we also require you to have a Working with Children Check (WWCC), and a National Police Check.
Not qualified? We can help!
We have an exclusive opportunity for those looking to become Lifeguards! Suitable candidates will be given the opportunity to complete their Lifeguard and First Aid course at $0 cost! Saving you approximately $500.
The Lifeguard course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to ensure everyone enjoying our aquatic venues are safe at all times!
